Dear Parents and Guardians,

Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students and staff is our absolute top priority here at Dillon School. We want to update you on our current security measures and, most importantly, ask for your help in following our visitor procedures.

The Mandatory Visitor Check-In

To maintain a secure campus, all visitors must enter through the main office.

Here is the procedure:

  1. Present your state ID to our office staff.

  2. Your ID will be scanned into the Raptor visitor management system

  3. You will receive a visitor badge that must be worn for the duration of your visit.

We understand the desire to walk your child in, but to maintain campus security, parents and guardians may not enter the building with their child before school unless they have completed the main office check-in process.

Layered Security at District 13

We are proud of the comprehensive security approach we have implemented across the district:

  • Threat Response: Our staff and students are trained in ALICE protocols to respond effectively to an aggressive intruder threat.

  • Door Security: All external doors, including a dedicated exterior door for Kids Club, remain locked at all times. We use Keyless Access Control on our main doors.

  • Visibility: All adults (staff and visitors) are required to wear a visible ID badge.

  • Emergency Resources: Dillon has 28 surveillance cameras accessible by the Rock Falls Police Department (RFPD) during an emergency.  All entrance doors are monitored live in the office during student attendance.

  • District 13 has an emergency notification app (Emergent 3) that will alert all staff and administration if there is an emergency.

Your adherence to these procedures is essential to our success. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools safe. We value your input and invite you to share any ideas or suggestions you may have.

Sincerely,

Roy Calkins
